American Legion Post 63 Conducts Semi-annual Flag Retirement Ceremony

"I am the flag of the United States of America. My name is Old Glory. I stand for peace, honor, truth, and justice. I led my troops, I was dirty, I was battle-worn, and I was tired, but my servicemembers cheered me and I was proud."

Over the weekend, American Legion Post 63 conducted its semi-annual flag retirement ceremony. A flag retirement ceremony is a dignified and respectful way to dispose of a U.S. flag that is no longer suitable for display. It involves a formal process of folding, presentation, and either burning or burial, accompanied by expressions of honor and gratitude for the flag's service.

If you are a local Winter Garden resident and would like to respectfully dispose of your old U.S. flags, then you may drop them off in the collection bin on the back porch of American Legion Post 63. We are located at 271 W Plant St, Winter Garden, FL 34787.
