American Legion Post 63 Provides $6,500 in Funding to Local High School Students

Every year, high school juniors compete and are selected as delegates to attend the Florida American Legion Boys State program hosted at Florida State University in Tallahassee. This year, Post 63 is proud to announce that we were able to provide $2,000 in sponsorship funding to four local high school students.

These young men represented our post, their schools, and their communities in a week-long, non-partisan educational program that teaches students about government through hands-on experience. Participants run mock city, county, and state governments, learn about the political process, and are encouraged to run for office and introduce legislation. The program is designed to teach young men about the rights, privileges, and responsibilities of citizenship.

Additionally, Post 63 awarded three local high school seniors a total of $4,500 in collegiate scholarships to support them as they continue in their educational journey. This year’s awardees were Gabriel Motta (Embry–Riddle Aeronautical University), Lorenzo Motta (University of Central Florida), and Blake Yoder (Palm Beach Atlantic).
