Post 63 Honors Local Winter Garden First Responders

The American Legion Post 63 proudly hosted its First Responder of the Year Awards on April 9, 2026, bringing the community together to recognize the extraordinary service and dedication of local heroes. Held at Post 63, located at 271 W. Plant St. in Winter Garden, the event was open to the public and welcomed community members eager to show their appreciation.
During the ceremony, three outstanding individuals were honored for their commitment to protecting and serving the community. Officer Bryce Riley of the Winter Garden Police Department was named Law Enforcement Officer of the Year. Robert Rakestraw of Winter Garden Fire Rescue received the Paramedic of the Year award, while Avery Wynn, also of Winter Garden Fire Rescue, was recognized as Firefighter of the Year.
The awards presentation highlighted the courage, professionalism, and selflessness demonstrated daily by first responders. Each honoree exemplifies the highest standards of service, often going above and beyond to ensure the safety and well-being of others.
